SNAP: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

Picture
The Provo Farmers Market accepts payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) through our wooden token program. The Market’s goal, with the vendors as partners, is to offer opportunities for families who receive food stamp benefits to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and other eligible products at the Market. This program also provides an additional revenue source to our local vendors.

SNAP recipients will purchase wooden tokens, valued at $1 each at the Market Office near the corner of 100 South and 500 west.  Tokens will be used to purchase eligible products from vendors.
  • Wooden tokens can be used to purchase: breads, cereals, fruits, vegetables, packaged food, meat, fish, poultry, seeds and plants which produce food for the household to eat.
  • Wooden tokens cannot be used to purchase any nonfood items, soaps, paper products, household supplies or prepared hot foods.
