Utah Valley Christkindlmarkt VENDORS WANTED!

The Vision for Our First Utah Valley Christkindlemarkt with up to 150 Vendors, a Performance Stage, and Character Visits.

Vendor Selection & Aesthetic Guidelines

The Utah Valley Christkindlmarkt brings the enchantment, warmth, and timeless tradition of classic European Christmas markets (Christkindlmärkte) to our local community. Inspired by historic holiday markets in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, our goal is to transport visitors to an Old-World winter wonderland filled with festive aromas, glittering warm lights, handcrafted treasures, and joyful holiday music.

We are curating a highly selective market of artisans, culinary creators, and craftspeople who can contribute to this authentic European festive atmosphere.

What We Are Looking For

To increase the authenticity and nostalgic magic of a traditional Christkindlmarkt, we seek vendors whose offerings and booth presentations reflect European holiday traditions, artisanal quality, and festive charm.

Vendors that do not meet the below priorities will still be considered in a juried approval process.

1. Traditional European & Winter Foods

Food and drink are at the heart of the Christkindlmarkt experience. We are actively seeking culinary vendors who prepare classic European winter treats on-site or sell high-quality packaged holiday specialties:

  • Warm Hot Delicacies: Fresh-grilled Bavarian bratwurst, landjäger, raclette cheese melted over crusty bread, savory crepes, pretzels (Laugengebäck), and pierogies.

  • Sweet European Treats: Cinnamon-roasted nuts (Gebrannte Mandeln), gingerbread cookies (Lebkuchen), German stollen, Belgian waffles, churros, Austrian pastries, marzipan, and chimney cakes (Kürtőskalács).

  • Festive Beverages: Spiced warm cider, rich European hot chocolate with fresh whipped cream, winter herbal teas, and warm spiced fruit punches (Kinderpunsch).

2. Handcrafted & Artisanal Gifts

We prioritize vendors offering unique, handmade items crafted with care and skill. Products should feel like heirloom-quality gifts suitable for the holiday season:

  • European Wood & Glass Crafts: Hand-carved nutcrackers, incense smokers (Räuchermänner), wooden nativity scenes, traditional pyramid carousels, and mouth-blown glass ornaments.

  • Cozy Winter Wear & Textiles: Hand-knit wool sweaters, felted mittens, woven scarves, embroidered linens, and cozy sheepskin or leather goods.

  • Artisanal Decor & Gifts: Hand-poured beeswax candles, cold-process soaps, botanical bath products, handcrafted pottery, wooden toys, and fine jewelry.

3. Specialty Packaged & Pantry Treasures

Ideal for holiday gifting or holiday entertaining tables:

  • Small-batch local honeys, spiced fruit jams, gourmet mustards, artisanal cheeses, cured meats, specialty olive oils, hand-crafted chocolates, and European holiday baking kits.

Booth Aesthetic & Atmosphere Requirements

The visual charm of the market is just as essential as the items being sold. All vendors accepted into the Utah Valley Christkindlmarkt are expected to align with our Old-World Alpine aesthetic.

Booth Structure

Vendors will be required to purchase a specific booth setup for this event (description included in application).

Brightly colored pop-up tents (e.g., bright blue, neon, red plastic).

Warm white fairy lights, lanterns, candle-lit displays, or Edison bulbs.

Harsh fluorescent lighting, cold white LED strips, or flashing neon signs.

Decorations

Evergreen garlands, pinecones, burlap, plaid/tartan accents, wooden crates, and festive holiday greenery.

Minimalist modern displays, bare plastic tables, or off-theme commercial banners.

Signage & Dress

Wooden or chalkboard signage with serif/calligraphic lettering. Traditional or warm winter attire (aprons, wool hats, alpine accessories).

Printed vinyl banners, plastic price tags, or casual branded athletic wear.

Vendor Categories Not Suited for Christkindlmarkt

To preserve the festive theme and support independent artisans, the following types of vendors will not be approved:

  • Commercial resale items or mass-produced trinkets imported for bulk distribution.

  • Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) businesses or franchise services.

  • Modern electronics, plastic gadgets, or non-seasonal flea market goods.

Provo Farmers Market

The Summer Market: Our Sunny Roots

From June through October, we transform Pioneer Park into a vibrant open-air bazaar. It’s the Saturday morning ritual you’ve been looking for.

Fresh & Local: Seasonal produce harvested at peak ripeness.

Handmade Goods: Local artisans showcasing jewelry, ceramics, and textiles.

Street Food: A rotating selection of local food trucks and bakers.

Community Vibes: Live music, yoga in the park, and plenty of space for the kids to run.

The Winter Market: Keeping the Spirit Bright

When the snow starts hitting the Wasatch Front, we don't pack up and head home—we just move the party indoors! Our Winter Market ensures that "eating local" isn't just a seasonal hobby.

Running through the colder months, the Winter Market offers:

Holiday Gifting: The ultimate destination for unique, locally-made gifts.

Prepared Foods: Jams, honeys, and preserves to keep your pantry stocked.

Cozy Community: A warm, indoor space to catch up with friends over a hot coffee.

Why We Do It

"Our mission is simple: to support local agriculture and small businesses while providing a space where Provo’s diverse community can flourish."

In a world of big-box stores and global supply chains, we believe there is something radical and beautiful about buying a loaf of bread from your neighbor. Every dollar spent at the market stays right here in our valley, fueling the dreams of local growers and makers.
